Cheek Guards for Helmets, Pair
Ever since ancient times cheek guards are fixed to helmets. They serve as a flexible face protection. At the age of the Roman Empire it was standard to provide helmets with cheek guards, but there are a lot of finds from early and high medieval times as well. Many nasal helmets and Spangenhelms from migration or Viking periods are furnished with cheek guards.
This pair of cheek guards made by Ulfberth enables to add separate face protection to nearly every helmet. To avoid contact with cold and sharp-edged steel they are furnished with cowhide at the backside. A wide and strong leather strip is attached to the top of the cheek guard. Only little handicraft skills are needed to fix the end of this strip to the helmet. On the other side the guard is provided with a riveted chin strap with buckle.
Delivery includes a pair of left and right cheek guards.
