John Lee 47 Ronin Katana

At the beginning of the 18th century, the two princes Kamei Korechika and Asano Naganori were commissioned by the Shogun to prepare a reception ceremony for the emperor's emissary. The two were to be instructed by the corrupt ceremony master Kira Kozuk. However, he expected generous gifts in return for teaching them about court etiquette. In stark contrast to Kamei, Asano rejected his instructor’s demands and so he was badly treated, insulted and provoked by the ceremony master. After a while of tolerating this behaviour, he attacked Kira with his knife. Although he only slightly injured him, the offense was punishable by death and so Asano committed seppuku, the ritual suicide.

Among Asano's followers were 47 samurai, who became Ronin (homeless samurai). Knowing that the oath of blood vengeance meant death, they made a plan to murder the Master of Ceremonies. After months of preparation, they finally managed to break into Kira's estate, execute him, and then sever his head. After they laid their heads on Asano's grave, the Ronin surrendered. Once they had avenged their master by acting in accordance with the samurai code of honour, the Ronin were allowed to commit suicide by seppuku, which prevented them from being executed as usual criminals. This event is considered a prime example of the samurai's unconditional loyalty and loyalty to their master.

The John Lee 47 Ronin Katana is said to reflect the strength and loyalty of the abandoned samurai. This katana has a sharp, hand-forged blade made of 9260 spring steel in Shobu-Zukuri style with a groove (Bo-Hi). The handle winding (Tsuka-Ito) is made of black leather. The Saya is made of black lacquered wood and has a black and white Sageo made of cotton.
