The Launch 11 shares high-performance CPM 154 blade steel and a lightweight, strong anodized aluminum handle with the rest of the Launch series, but Kershaw gave this knife a straight profile and added touches like a bronze-anodized titanium pivot trim ring, an attractive handle cutout and an integrated backspacer. A reversible, slimline pocket clip makes it even easier to EDC this lightweight knife and the low-profile push button makes it harder for the blade to accidentally deploy.

The CPM 154 powdered metallurgy blade steel takes and holds an excellent edge, provides corrosion resistance, wear resistance and toughness.

At international level, legal provisions pertaining to the purchase, possession, use, carrying and transportation of switchblade knives are not uniform and widely differ depending on individual state legislation.
In Germany these knives are classified as illegal weapons, with the exception of side-opening switchblade knives with a single-edged blade which does not exceed 8.5 cm in length. Nevertheless, the switchblade knives which meet all above-mentioned conditions (and are thus legal) still remain classified as weapons under the German law on weapons (Waffengesetzes, short WaffG). Under these terms, the required minimum age for the purchase, possession and use of such knives is fixed at 18 years old. Additionally, the legal carrying/transportation of such knives in public places is also subject to specific conditions (§ 42a of the WaffG).
