Wild Hunt, Wall Decoration, Hand-Carved Wood
This motif is based on an illustration from an early medieval illuminated manuscript known as the Book of Kells.
It shows the Cŵn Annwn, the hounds of the Otherworld in Welsh mythology, chasing each other in an endless circle. In the middle, their intertwined limbs form the shape of a triskelion or triskele. This triple spiral design is a popular threefold symbol of life, death and rebirth in Celtic culture.
This decorative wooden wall hanging was hand-carved.
