Kage No Senshi Tsurugi Tanto, Battle-Blades

With the Kage No Senshi Chokuto being a success, Battle-Blades felt that it needed something even more stealthy, vicious and different to combine with, and so they made not one, but two straight double-edged short swords from the same era. These double-edged swords are commonly referred to as tsurugi, which literally means "blade/sword". This word is most commonly used in Japanese for straight double-edged swords, but is also used for other foreign swords with the same characteristics.

The tsurugi is one of the first swords that led the way for Japanese weaponry. Some of the tsurugis that have been discovered on Japanese ground date back to 700 BC. They are mostly of Chinese descent, as straight-bladed swords were not widespread in feudal Japan. Compared to the original tsurugi, Battle-Blades has taken the artistic liberty with these versions to create something never seen before, while keeping the main components true to the original. For example, the long tsuka nowadays often seen on Tantos and Wakizashis is far too long and has no historical significance. They wanted to give these swords a short tsuka, just like the short swords in Japan actually had. This style of "compact" tsuka is also an advantage when the weapon is used with correct techniques. Since a short and smaller tsuka makes balancing the sword a challenge, Battle-Blades decided to make the nagako much wider and thicker than usual in order to balance the weapons optimally.

This double-edged Tanto made of T10 steel is forged and polished entirely by hand. The genuine notary-style hamon gives the sword a harmonious appearance. It has been dressed in midnight blue stingray leather and tsuka-ito wrapping to match the Kage No Senshi shinobi outfit. Protecting the blade is a deep black, fully customized saya with a unique koiguchi shape for easier sheathing.
